- Cognitive and Salience Network Connectivity Changes following a Single Season of Repetitive Head Impact Exposure in High School Football
High school football players and controls underwent cognitive battery testing. The study found that football players had subtle cognitive decrements. MRI revealed altered brain connectivity, with decreased dorsal anterior cingulate cortex interhemispheric connectivity and within-salience network connectivity, which correlated with poorer total symptoms and verbal memory performance, respectively.
