NF-2, Meningioma, Multiple Schwannomas
- Meningiomas are very rare in children (1-2% of all intracranial meningiomas); may be associated with NF-2 or irradiation
- In one series of 24 children with NF-2, only one had a meningioma.
- May have a more aggressive behavior than in adults; no gender predilection in children
- Most common signs in children with NF-2 at presentation: subtle skin tumors, posterior capsular cataracts, neurological deficits due to schwannomas
