A 44-year-old man presents to the emergency department due to a fall where his “legs gave way” and he was unable to stand up again. He has a 6-month history of dragging his feet and numbness of the soles of his feet. He also has burning and numbness spreading up his legs to his thighs, which began around the same time. Clinical examination is normal.
